UCEA represents UK higher education institutions, and provides advice and guidance to them, on employment, reward and human resources practice.
What we do:
UCEA aims to be a valued representative of, and adviser to, higher education sector employers on the delivery of excellence in human resources management.
We aim to:
- advise our subscribers promptly, accurately and helpfully
- consult effectively with our subscribers
- engage in regular and constructive dialogue with our wider stakeholders
- deliver effective services at good value
- embed equality and diversity in all our activities.
We do this through:
- delivering effective representation and negotiation, on behalf of higher education sector employers
- providing accurate and timely advice to higher education institutions on issues of employment, reward and human resources
- promoting pay modernisation via the Framework Agreement for Pay modernisation in HE and developing longer term pay strategies
- developing an effective long-term pensions strategy for the higher education sector
- commissioning applied research and surveys to support HEIs and underpin UCEA representation and advice
- supporting higher education institutions which employ doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals as academics
- supporting higher education institutions to deliver a safe working environment
- meeting the needs of different types of HEIs throughout the UK
We deliver all this through providing human resources, legal and other advice; providing information about the latest developments in higher education human resources management; negotiating with trade unions and other organisations; lobbying statutory and other bodies for improved resources within the higher education sector; offering programmes of seminars and events; and developing and managing projects.
