Webinar: Understanding and planning for GDPR

11:00AM, 28 February 2018
Webinar

  1. The webinar
  2. Booking

Eversheds Sutherland is generously hosting the webinar on behalf of UCEA and so it is free of charge to UCEA member institutions. The webinar will run from approximately 11.00 am - 11.45 am on Wednesday 28 February.

Overview of topic

The General Data Protection Regulation (GPDR) became EU law in May 2016 and comes into effect in the UK on 25 May 2018. This webinar covers key actions for employers regarding the collection, transfer and use of staff data. It also covers the main practical impact of GDPR on day to day HR activities and processes.

Viewers of this webinar will be given an overview of:

  • The timing, scope and impact of the implementation of the GDPR requirements and the audit steps that must be taken before any further compliance work can be effective.
  • Key changes brought in by the GDPR, alongside an assessment of their impact in the higher education sector
  • How to spot current issues in your institution and anticipate areas of non-compliance.

Who should attend?

The session is aimed at all HR professionals.

Presenter

Dave Hughes is a Principal Associate in the Privacy and Information Law team in Eversheds Sutherlands’ Cambridge office. He is working closely with HR contacts and employers across all sectors as they prepare for the GDPR. His recent experience includes a full range of compliance audit work: drafting internal audit questionnaires, reviewing and analysing responses, advising on and prioritising risk and making recommendations for addressing compliance gaps. Dave also assists with the implementation of those recommendations including policy work, training, security breach management and reporting, intra-group data sharing and international transfers, fair notice and consent, advising on subject access requests and other data subject rights and dealing with complaints to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Eversheds Sutherland is very generously hosting the webinar on behalf of UCEA and so it is free of charge to UCEA member institutions.

Initially only one log-in will be allocated for each UCEA member institution on a first come first served basis. We would suggest that colleagues group together to participate in the webinar. It would be beneficial to UCEA for institutions to indicate the number of colleagues they expect to watch the webinar when they book.

Book institutional places by completing the online booking form.

Please ensure that you include the name and job title of the lead participant. Participants will receive login details a week before the webinar takes place.
