In addition, the termination of fixed term contracts that have reached the end of their stated term are excluded from the obligation to be included in the count for collective redundancy consultations.

JNCHES Fixed-Term and Casual Employment Guidance for Higher Education Institutions was published in 2002 in the lead up to the implementation of the fixed term employment regulations.
Most of the document has currency in terms of advocating good practice. However, equalities legislation referred to in the document has been superseded by the Equality Act 2010 and there is now an exemption in place that excludes fixed term contracts from the collective consultation regulations.
