UCEA appoints new Chief Executive

UCEA is pleased to announce the appointment of Helen Fairfoul as its new Chief Executive.

Helen was previously UCEA’s Deputy Chief Executive and has been Acting Chief Executive since September, following the departure of Jocelyn Prudence to take up the role of University Secretary and Chief Operating Officer at the University of Stirling.

Helen brings extensive experience in human resources, employee relations, negotiations and organisational development, gained in higher education and local government. Helen has also been working for UCEA at European level where she is currently chair of the HE Working Group of the European Social Dialogue in Education. Helen joined UCEA in the role of Deputy in 2007, having previously been HR Director at the University of Roehampton, and her work for UCEA will be well known to many in the sector.

Helen said: “I am very much looking forward to leading UCEA, supporting our members in these times of significant change for higher education and taking forward UCEA’s work with the trade unions and other sector stakeholders.”

Professor Paul Curran, Chair of the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) said:
“I am delighted that Helen has accepted this important role.  UCEA makes a major contribution to the sector in relation to pay, pensions and people more broadly.  I have every confidence in Helen’s ability to build on those achievements and look forward to working with her.”
