UCEA's annual conference on the employment of clinical academic staff is a key event for strategic debate and networking amongst HR professionals and their senior colleagues involved in the engagement and management of clinical academic staff.

This conference, now in its ninth year, will bring together those with a direct interest in the employment and management of clinical academic staff in higher education.

Professor Debra Humphris, Vice-Chancellor, University of Brighton and Chair of CASAG will chair the conference.
 

The programme sessions are:

  • Supporting the pipeline for the future clinical academic workforce - Professor Sara Marshall, Head of Clinical and Physiological Sciences, Wellcome Trust.
  • New Agenda for Change pay scale - Andrea Hester, Deputy Director for ERR, NHS Employers.
  • The gender pay gap in the medical/clinical academic workforce - Professor Dame Jane Dacre, Professor of Medical Education, UCL and lead for the Gender Pay Gap review in Medicine.
  • Addressing the cause of the gender pay gap at consultant level at Cambridge University Hospitals - Alison Risker, Associate Director of Workforce, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Relationship building with NHS partners: Highlighting the contribution of clinical academic staff to the nation’s health and to the advancement of medical science - Panel discussion with Professor Moira Whyte, Sir John Crofton Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Head of Medical School, University of Edinburgh (other panel members to be confirmed).
  • NHS Pension changes – implications for relevant staff employed in HEIs - Emelda Nicholroy, UCEA Head of Pensions.
  • Legal update - Helen Mortlock, Legal Director, Eversheds Sutherland.
