This is an intensive two-day residential masterclass aimed at senior colleagues who are responsible for strategic reward issues. We anticipate that participants will include:

  • HR Directors and Deputies
  • Other senior team members (e.g. DVCs/PVCs) with responsibility for reward and related staffing issues
  • Senior reward specialists

The masterclass offers participants a forum to review and discuss the challenges surrounding the development and implementation of a reward strategy in the context of an HE institution's business strategy. It focuses on particular circumstances facing HE institutions and the range of different reward solutions. The masterclass is highly participative and includes a mix of high level discussions and activities that enable participants to reflect on their current thinking and practice and explore new approaches.

Masterclass facilitators

The masterclass will be led by Dr Duncan Brown, Head of HR Consultancy at the Institute for Employment Studies (IES), a highly regarded consultant and writer on reward management. Participants will review contemporary issues in reward, hear from relevant guest speakers and benefit from Duncan’s extensive reward consulting experience.

Other confirmed contributors include Helen Fairfoul, Chief Executive and Laurence Hopkins, Head of Research at UCEA. Additional contributors are currently being confirmed.

The masterclass will be run from 10.30 am on Monday 18 November until 1.30/2.00 pm on Tuesday 19 November. Registration (refreshments available) on the first day will open at 10.00 am.
