UCEA’s Reward practitioner workshops offer participants a series of self-standing, but linked workshops to review and discuss practical reward issues in higher education. Updated annually, the workshops will enable participants to learn more about latest practice in the HE sector and outside, reflect on the latest thinking and discuss new approaches.

The workshops are part of a wider selection of UCEA events looking at issues around pay, performance and reward, which includes the highly rated intensive two-day residential UCEA masterclass Developing your reward strategy: issues, challenges and solutions (next date TBC).

These practitioner workshops are aimed specifically at staff with responsibility for reward and feature practical tools, examples of practice as well as key reward concepts. Staff who are new to the sector and to the reward function have also previously benefitted from these sessions. The workshops are highly participative, and participants will work in groups and pairs to reflect on current reward practice and opportunities for evolution and change.

This first workshop will improve knowledge and understanding of pay data and pay benchmarking tools to improve pay benchmarking and senior reward decisions.

Chris Charman, Director at Mervelles will present and co-facilitate Workshop 1 with Laurence Hopkins, UCEA's Head of Research. For over 20 years Chris has performed a wide range of work in the performance, talent and reward field, partnering with clients to think through Total Reward responses to business and people issues and associated implementation, communication and process challenges. Previously a Partner at Towers Perrin and a Senior Principal at Mercer, he has broad experience across a variety of sectors and particular experience with global organisations in the industrial, engineering, mining and oil and gas sectors.

The workshop will run between 10.00 am (registration from 9.30 am) and end at 3.30pm.
