UCEA’s Reward practitioner workshops offer participants a series of self-standing, but linked workshops to review and discuss practical reward issues in higher education. Updated annually, the workshops will enable participants to learn more about latest practice in the HE sector and outside, reflect on the latest thinking and discuss new approaches.

The workshops are part of a wider selection of UCEA events looking at issues around pay, performance and reward, which includes the highly rated intensive two-day residential UCEA masterclass Developing your reward strategy: issues, challenges and solutions (next date TBC).

These practitioner workshops are aimed specifically at staff with responsibility for reward and feature practical tools, examples of practice as well as key reward concepts. Staff who are new to the sector and to the reward function have also previously benefitted from these sessions. The workshops are highly participative, and participants will work in groups and pairs to reflect on current reward practice and opportunities for evolution and change.

This second workshop will take an in-depth look at total reward challenges and practice from an HE perspective and provides reward practitioners and those with responsibility for reward at their institution to share their experience and reward strategies.

Dr Duncan Brown, Head of HR Consultancy at the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) will co-facilitate with Laurence Hopkins, UCEA's Head of Research. Duncan leads the HR Consultancy and Research work at IES, a leading independent research-based charity which supports improvement in HR and employment practice. He has more than 25 years' experience in HR consulting & research with Aon Hewitt, PwC and Towers Perrin. He spent five years as Assistant Director General at CIPD.

The workshop will run between 10.00 am (registration from 9.30 am) and end at 3.30pm.
