Event overview

What to expect?
This two-day consecutive online workshop is designed to maximise your learning in just two convenient sessions. To fully benefit from this immersive experience, attendance is required at both sessions. This ensures you gain the complete insights and skills.

Facilitated by Graeme Ross, the Immigration and Compliance Manager at the University of Cambridge, who has over eight years of experience delivering training for UCEA, and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. He will be joined by Pia Carr, Principal Associate from Eversheds Sutherland. They specialise in the complexities of recruiting higher education staff from overseas. They will provide hints and tips on how to deal pragmatically with a range of scenarios and highlight relevant legal issues.

Why attend?
Examples of some of the areas covered are:
  • SWV applications and SWV ‘non-points requirements’ including - skill level requirements salary requirements, and genuine vacancy requirements. Maintenance/Finance requirements, Immigration Health, Surcharge, ATAS requirements
  • Other relevant immigration routes - Visitors; Permitted paid engagements; Temporary Worker (GAE T5); Employing Student visa holders and Global Talent Visa.
  • Employer’s responsibilities - Sponsor duties, Right to work checks and employing Tier 4/Student visa holder.

Who is this for?
It is pitched at a level that will suit both experienced practitioners and ‘new starters’, so it serves both as a ‘health check’ for those already working in this area and as an introduction for those new to it. This will benefit all staff responsible for staff immigration.
