On 15 July 2026, the USS Trustee launched a consultation in relation to the 2026 valuation. Alongside the statutory consultation matters, there is the opportunity to update the Trustee on employers’ long-term objectives and other elements relevant to the valuation and the scheme’s long-term strategy.
The USS Trustee posed a series of questions in the consultation document. To seek further context in relation to the strategic questions raised, UCEA has set some additional questions for employers to consider. To assist employers with considering these matters, a consultation briefing note has been shared, from UCEA’s actuarial adviser Aon.
USS employers are asked to provide formal responses to UCEA as soon as possible and by 5pm on Friday 11 September to allow UCEA to analyse and collate responses, and to formally reply to the USS Trustee.
