Pay gap action planning: taking positive action

Pay gap action planning: taking positive action is a new in-person UCEA workshop designed to support HEIs in their ongoing challenges to close their Gender, Ethnicity and intersectional pay gaps.

The new in-person workshop will complement workshops introduced earlier this year (Data crunch: Calculating, understanding and evaluating gender, ethnicity and intersectional pay gaps in your HEI and Strategies for addressing ethnicity, gender and intersectionality pay gaps in your HEI) that helped participants to understand and interpret any pay gaps at their HEI and provided attendees with an understanding of possible solutions when trying to close pay gaps.

This new in-person workshop will include:
  • The legal framework, risks, common pitfalls, but also opportunities to take positive action in ways which are perhaps not readily understood or used to their full potential. Particularly in the areas of recruitment and promotion, and innovative ways to provide funding to individuals to help with their career development.
  • Case study speakers from inside and outside the sector that have taken positive action and who are willing to share their experiences.
  • Round table discussions to enable participants to share insights and lessons learned or to discuss ideas about positive action interventions.
  • Panel discussion/Q&As to enable participants to explore the issues with the Eversheds Sutherland representatives and other speakers.
Confirmed speakers to date include:
  • Helen Mortlock, Legal Director, Education, Eversheds Sutherland
  • Chris Mordue, Partner, Employment, Labor & Pensions Group, Eversheds Sutherland
  • Fiona McClement, Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, University of Leeds
Further speakers and the timed programme will be announced shortly.
