UCU strike activity on 22 February

23 February 2018

A UCEA spokesperson said:

“UCEA's poll of the 56 HE institutions which were the focus of UCU’s first strike day on 22 February indicates that the impact on teaching was 'low' in the large majority (71%). We had feedback from half the institutions targeted for strike action yesterday and just one reported a 'high' impact on their teaching. As expected, some departments saw more impact and some very little. The impact on other activities was reported as either 'none' or 'low' in 93% of responses. Institutions indicated that pickets were in place at many entrances, being conducted in a dignified manner. Most (61%) report 'no' or 'low level’ support from students; only one reported that the student support was 'high'.”
